DotCorral.com History

The dotcorral.com started as a social network.

The original idea was that you could create a page for anything you wanted including online dating; however, it did not work well because it was hard to define specific details for different functions. To fix this dating was separated as a separate function with specific details for dating.

Over time more features were added that included social networking, blogs, forums, online dating, classified ads, and real estate listings. In addition, functions for messages, bookmarks, and comments were available.

I added all the new features in the hope that it would attract more users; however, I have not been unable to market the website and increase traffic.

DotCorral.com Marketing

The dotcorral.com is a free online dating website that I am trying to market with no success.

Now I am trying to decide how best I can market the website going forward.

I might create a new domain name and start from scratch.

The "dotcorral" domain name was picked to be generic and it meant "dot" for Internet and "Corral" for corralling around a web page. I picked a generic name so I could add other functionality later if I wanted. So the idea was if one feature like social networking did not work I could change it to online dating.

For a new domain name I might choose a name specific just for "free online dating" because if people see that name they will know what the website is about so it might be easier to market. As an example, if the website domain name is CoolFreeDating.com you know just by looking at the name what the website is about.

DotCorral.com Revamped

I have not been able to increase traffic to the dotcorral.com website so I am trying to determine what I can do. With no traffic and no one using the dotcorral.com website maintaining all that code was too much work so I decided to revamp the website to make it easier to maintain.

The dotcorral.com has been revamped to just offer free online dating.

At one time dotcorral.com offered social networking, blogs, forums, online dating, classified ads, and real estate listings. In addition, it had bookmarks and comments.

I disabled registration for now to make the website easier to maintain. An account is not required to use the website so the registration was intended to be optional.

I disabled full text search for now to make the website easier to maintain. Full text search is not required but I plan to add it back in the future.

I installed bootstrap themes.
